    Daris Freeman will address 5 key areas in which employers make mistakes regarding FMLA administration, including recent case law and share best practices and information to directly apply to your own business.


    About The Presenter:

    Ms. Freeman began working for Unum Group in March 2000. After more than 10 years working on the operational side of Unum’s Leave Management Services, she is now Assistant Counsel in the law department.  Although Ms. Freeman provides general employment law support for Unum, her primary responsibility is to support Unum’s Leave Management Center which administers FMLA and over 180 state leave laws for more than 1 million employee lives. In addition, they provide ADA support to many of their larger employers. Ms. Freeman partners with the operation and their employer customers to ensure an absence management program compliant with federal and state leave laws.  This includes researching state leave and disability laws; staying current on ADA and FMLA case law; analyzing complex leave scenarios; reviewing policies, procedures, and communications;  and working with employers to develop solutions for their unique absence management challenges. 

    Daris received her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College, her Juris Doctor from the Nashville School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee.  She is a certified trainer for SHRM and CE credit and is a frequent speaker on FMLA and ADA.

    Registration and lunch begin at 11:45, and include time for networking with other members and chapter announcements. The presentation/program begins around 12:00pm and lasts until approximately 1:30pm (includes a question/answer period).

    Cancellation policy: Registrants will be billed the full price of the event if a cancellation is not received by 5:00 pm on the Monday prior to the luncheon.
