2021 Board Members

    Being a Board member for the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM is an opportunity to help your local chapter and forward the HR profession.

    The Board of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM is an all volunteer Board composed of professionals working in the human resources or related field. Some positions require SHRM membership or a certification and all positions have an annual term (January – December).   The Board meets monthly to address chapter issues ranging from budget to programs.

    2021 Board Members - Officers

    President - Edie Hill

    Edie Hill, SHRM-SCP, GPHR
    Human Resources Manager - Timken

    Edie is the Human Resources Manager for Timken, a worldwide bearing manufacturer. She is the HR business partner for the Housed Units division (which has 5 sites including Washington State, British Columbia, Ontario, Poland, and the United Kingdom). Her responsibilities include organizational advancement, strategic planning, and associate development, as well as HR operational support for Timken’s corporate mergers and acquisitions. 

    Edie holds a M.A. in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University and a Masters Certificate in Human Resources Management from Cornell University. She is an Air Force Veteran and currently holds her SHRM-SCP and GPHR. This is Edie’s sixth year on the Board, having previously served as President Elect and Legislative Director. She continues to be active on the SHRM A-Team (Advocacy Team - http://www.advocacy.shrm.org).


    President Elect - Amelia Mendenhall

    Employee Benefits Consultant - Rice Insurance

    Amelia started her career in insurance immediately following graduation from Washington State University. A Bellingham resident for most of her life, she is fortunate to work with one of the largest remaining locally owned, independent brokerages on the west coast, headquartered right in her home town. Amelia is an Employee Benefits Consultant with Rice Insurance, fully aware of the uniqueness of her profession. A company’s offerings impact their business on all levels, affecting operations and culture from the top down. To be able to provide clarity, affordability and solutions not only to employers but their employees and families as well, enables Amelia to contribute positively to both her local community and clients throughout the country.

    This is Amelia’s second year serving on the board. She brings with her experience from previously held positions with the Whatcom County Association of Realtors, Whatcom Young Professionals and Big Brothers Big Sisters of NW Washington.


    Past President & Programs/Sponsorship Director - Robert Golden

    Robert Golden, SHRM-CP, PHR, CCP, MBA
    Human Resources Assistant Manager - Peoples Bank

    Robert Golden is the Human Resources Assistant Manager for Peoples Bank in Bellingham, WA.  He has over fifteen years of varied HR experience working in both union and non-union environments, as well as both the public and private sector in multiple industries. 

    Robert holds a Masters of Business Administration from Western Washington University, in addition to a Bachelors in Business Administration focusing in Human Resource Management.  He is both SHRM-CP and PHR certified and is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).

    Robert has been a member of SHRM since 2007.  This is Robert’s sixth year serving on the Mt. Baker SHRM Board and he also serves as District Director for Washington State SHRM and as a board member for Lydia Place.

    Human Resources Director - Kam-Way Transportation

    Harneet Sihota is HR Director of Kam-Way Transportation, Inc.  She, along with her husband and brother-in-law moved from Fresno CA to Blaine WA to start a freight brokerage company in early 2008.  She has served in several capacities within the organization and has chosen Human Resources as the best area for her to contribute to the organization.  She obtained her undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from Fresno Pacific University.  She continued her education by obtaining her MBA from University of Phoenix.

    Veronica Bean, SHRM-CP, PHR

    Veronica graduated from Washington State University and has been practicing Human Resources for more than twenty years.  Her professional experience includes healthcare, local government, community behavioral health, and manufacturing & production industries.  She possesses significant HR Management experience in the operational areas of employee/labor relations, compensation & benefits, safety, absence management, performance management, leadership development, recruitment, employee training & development, HRIS, and payroll.  In addition, she has experience managing several projects including mergers/acquisitions, standardizing HR service delivery, and HR, Payroll and Timekeeping system implementations. 


    Secretary & Events Director - Tracie Woolslayer

    Organizational Development - Skagit Regional Health

    Tracie Woolslayer is new the Bellingham area and is currently working in Organizational Development at Skagit Regional Health. She has over 20 years’ experience in the Human Resources profession.  Prior to moving to Bellingham, Tracie owned her own consulting business in San Diego, California and worked Muscat, Oman for Omantel the leading telecommunications company in the Sultanate of Oman.  She has experience working in organizations ranging from 25 employees to 6000 employees. Industries include Hospitality, Health Care, Construction, and Manufacturing.

    Tracie has served on several professional Human Resources non-profit boards and was an integral part of bringing the SHRM certification process to the country of Oman.

    Tracie has a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University and currently holds her SHRM-SCP certification.

    Human Resources & Business Manager - Nothwest Health Care Linen

    Sheila has over 19 years of experience in HR and Management; providing leadership relating to all aspects of HR including recruitment, payroll, benefit administration, and compliance.  As a member of the Senior Management team at NWHCL she is directly involved in all company initiatives, strategies and developments.  Prior to her pursuing her passion to work in HR she had experience working in accounting. 

    Sheila has been a member of SHRM since 2006 and is a SHRM Certified Professional.  This is Sheila’s fourth year on the Mt. Baker SHRM Board.

    Professional Staffing Recruiter - Express Employment Professionals

    Shannon graduated from Western Washington University with a BS in Human Resource Management. She is currently working for the Bellingham office and has been employed there for almost 17 years. She is responsible for the Professional Staffing Niche - Accounting/Finance and HR. She started with commercial staffing, moved to professional staffing, and during the recession oversaw professional staffing and administrative staffing. She moved back to professional staffing 3 years ago! Shannon was SHRM Member of the year in 2011 and 2013, has received multiple awards for staffing, and achieved the Century Club in 2018


    College Relations, Workforce Readiness, & Diversity Director - Elizabeth Miller

    Adjunct Faculty - Bellingham Technical College

    Elizabeth Miller has been in Human Resources for the past 17 years, with the majority of her experience in health care.  She has specialized in union contract negotiations and guidance, grievances and arbitrations, safety programs development, strategic recruitment, employment matters counseling, turnover reduction, and policy and procedure development.  

    This is Elizabeth’s eighth year serving on the board.  She is serving as Diversity & Inclusion and Workforce Readiness Advocate in 2019.

    Elizabeth earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 2008, PHR certification in June 2013, and her SHRM-CP in 2015.


    Legislative Director - Marley Morgan

    Human Resources Generalist - Smith Gardens

    Marley Morgan is an HR Generalist for Smith Gardens, a 4th generation family run business that sells perennials and annuals to Big Box stores across the Pacific Northwest. Marley also manages their Wellness program, provides annual training on HR systems across all 4 facilities in the PNW, and acts as a recruiter for full-time and seasonal positions.

    Marley has a BA in Communications from Richmond University, the American University in London.


    SHRM Foundation Director - Raquel Hansen

    Director of Human Resources - Samson Rope

    Raquel Hansen is Director of HR  for Samson Rope Technologies in Ferndale, WA and has been an HR professional since 1997.   She has experience working in organizations ranging from 150 employees to 2000 employees. Industries include Hospitality, Health Care, Construction, and Manufacturing.  Raquel has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and is currently working on a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership and HR Management.  Raquel is certified as a Senior Professional in HR and returned to the Mt Baker SHRM board in 2013 after serving on the board early in her career.  


    Technology Director - Patricia Boteler

    Talent & Engagement Manager - Samson Rope

    Patricia Boteler is the Talent & Engagement Manager at Samson, the world’s leading manufacturer of high performance synthetic rope.  Responsible for attracting, engaging and retaining talent, leading all functions of employer branding, talent acquisition, corporate social responsibility, and employee engagement.

    Patricia graduated from Huxley College of the Environment at WWU, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Geography/Social Studies.

    This is her fourth year serving on the board. 


    Communications Director - Eddy Lindenstein

    HCM Consultant - Paylocity

    Eddy Lindenstein is a Human Capital Management Consultant for Paylocity.  Eddy is a graduate of Western Washington University and worked for Sports Radio KJR in Seattle before spending several years in Non-Profit Fundraising and Event Planning in the Northwest.  After his non-profit career ended, Eddy began working in HR Technology in 2011 and has loves working with Human Resource Professionals every day. 

    This is Eddy’s first year on the Mt. Baker SHRM Board and he is bringing his social media experience and communication background to the chapter with excitement and enthusiasm to help the local HR community.

    Eddy also volunteers for the Girl Scouts of America and enjoys motorcycle riding, podcasting and weightlifting in his free time.
